Radamec Tracker Head Type 409

Used on Royal Navy "Type 675" (Guardian) Jammer System

Also used on Optical systems and guns.

Original applications include Invincible class carriers, type 42 Destroyers and type 22 Frigates.  Two large D.C. servo motors with integral tacho-generators provide a high level of maneuverability for this tracker head.  Both motors are provided with magnetic brakes and "synchro" position feedback sensors**.  The motors and other sensitive parts are protected inside a robust "clam-shell" weather shield.  The original pedestal mounting supports the director head high on the superstructure of the ship.  A pair of substantial, tilting bosses protrude from the enclosure, while the whole assembly swivels at the base.   A very high quality item, weight approx 60Kg.  Spares and circuit diagrams are available.

The clam-shell protective case is made from high impact cast aluminium and provides a hermetically sealed environment for the internal components.  This unit is designed to survive some of the harshest conditions encountered on the planet, and to resist salt water spray.

The Type 675 provided advanced protection for the British Royal Navy.  Designed to operate in an extremely harsh environment, exposed to a punishing combination of temperature, wind-load, wave motion and salt water spray.

This unit is a multi-role director/positioner/tracker head.  It was used in several Naval systems, notably the antenna assembly of the Royal Navy "Type 675" ECM Jammer system, also known as "Guardian".  Also designed for use in optical systems and gun control (see radamec website or cache version).  This system was recently decommissioned by the UK MOD  (Read about this decision).  The director unit is available new, reconditioned or in good used condition.  Also available are the original pedestals and outrigger "spiders" for payload mounting.

** The original "synchro" position sensors may be replaced with digital shaft encoders or precision potentiometers as required.  Please enquire for details.

These directors are suitable for a wide variety of professional and hobby applications, including:
