This unit is a high speed, high voltage avalanche step generaor that produces a minimum 200V step into 50 ohms. We tested this unit with a TDS520C 500MHz oscilloscope and a 40dB attenuator, and also with an HP 54120 12GHz sampling oscilloscope and a total of 60dB attenuation. See below. The rise time is shown to be around 100pS, and the peak voltage is >200V. The main output polarity is positive.
