The HP 53310A "Modulation Domain Analyser" is a bit like a frequency counter with the output displayed on an oscilloscope screen. Hence if the input signal has any frequency variation, this will be displayed. See the FM examples below. One extremely useful application of the 53310A is in PLL optimisation, where the lock transient can be observed directly. Two-point modulators are also ideal applications, though there are a great many others.
This unit passes all self-tests, is in excellent clean cosmetic order, and has absolutely no screen burn. Option 030, 2.5GHz channel "C".
